Q: Honda Odyssey 2002 acceleration whine problem?
I have a 2002 honda odyssey van with about 95000 miles on it that has a whine when I'm accelerating in the 30-50 MPH range -- goes away when its faster/slower, or I'm not pushing down the accelerator. Could this be a transmission issue?
A: Tyres howl with or without acceleration!, most likely a differential noise, and being a front wheel drive car, this is located within the transmission (transaxle)
Also check CV Joints, if they are in poor condition, they will make noise. Turn car around in a tight u turn, with steering on full lock, if the CV joints are bad you will hear a loud knocking type noise at the front wheels.
CV joints will be a cheaper fix, than transmission!!

Q: How to change the headlight in a Honda Odyssey 2002?
A: Buy a bulb, unscrew the screws with a screw driver, twist the bulb housing out of the casing, remove the old bulb, replace it, twist the bulb housing back into the casing, and screw the whole thing back to the car.

Can someone please tell me why a battery needs to be replaced on a Honda Odyssey Van 2002, this is what Honda mechanics told me today, it has already been replaced once, I always thought the battery lasts forever.
A: Whatever you do, don't buy a Redtop brand battery they are total junk. My friend and I both bought that overpriced Redtop battery and they lasted only 1 year each. A 2002 needing a 3 battery, that's certainly possible considering your vehicle is about 6 years old. Most batteries last 3 years on average, so don't feel bad about dropping another $80-100 on a battery. A recent article in Autoweek was talking about how modern cars drain batteries even when not running and can't recharge properly for those driving short trips. Newer cars have some many electronic devices that continue to run in hibernation mode and therefore can kill your battery fast if you are someone who doesn't drive your car every other day at least.
Q: Looking on how to change the front engine mount on a 2002 Honda Odyssey?
A: support the engine with a jack. unbolt engine mount. bolt new one in. assume its pretty much the same system for honda civic which i have done. might want to hit the bolts with some penetrating oil a few days before u start. am surprised u have bad engine mount so soon.

A: Two suggestions.
First you will not get many calls if the car is not available for purchase until next week. I would pull the ad and run it again when the car is actually available for purchase. It's important that you pull the ad and repost so that it stays near the top.
Second you need pictures! Take about 30 pictures and post them to google's picassa site (free). Then use four photos in the ad (max allowed) and put a link in the ad to the picassa images. OR if you know html, write an html ad with all the images included and post the html code in the ad body.

A: In the center of the vehicle, underneath. The lowering gear is under a flap in the carpet on the passenger side in front of the 2nd row seat.

A: I've got one, have 75K miles on it, have not had any problems to date. The transmission kind of thumps into gear first thing after starting on a cold morning. Other than that, I can't think of anything. Do you have one with problems, or are thinking of acquiring one? I would definitely recommend them.
Q: Trick to open side sliding door in Honda Odyssey. Both sides stick (at the same time) on occasion.?
We have a 2002 Honda Odyssey. The side sliding doors are not automatic. Every once in a while both side sliding doors stick locked closed. Is there a trick to opening these. Eventually they give, I am not sure of what it is that triggers the lock. Does anyone have a trick for this?
The way it sticks it is as if the lock has seazed and will not let go of the door despite the fact the door is set to unlock. It is not a sticky seal.

Q: Honda Odyssey Computer got wet?
Ok during Hurricane Ike my 2002 honda odyssey van got flooded but the thing is some of the electrical things still work such as the A/C still blows air.. the Speed/Rpms and lights still all come on and the car attempts to start but the reason it will not (I believe) is because the car computer got flooded.
This was the only part of the car to get flooded because the water did not get high where I was.
Everything is fine but that bottom area where the computer is located
If I change the computer will this car work again since everything else is fine?
A: if the check engine light comes on when you turn the key on likely the computer is still working i would check all the fuse's first thing even the ones under the hood make sure none are blowen honda is good at protecting that stuff
Q: What can you say about the Honda Element? Is it worthwhile for a family of 5? How about power?
I am choosing between buying a 2nd hand 2002 Honda Odyssey or a Sienna... but I found out about the Element which I could buy newer for the same price....
A: The Element is a good car. The only problem is that its a 4 passenger vechicle. I would go with the Odyssey.
