Q: My friend received a Honda Passport for his BD and now is buying a motorcycle, what do you say about that?
He says he wants a kawasaki ninja or something because its a good price and gas prices are sky rocketing. he already received a Honda Passport, or something called something like that.. but it was his BD present. So anyways at school he was mentioning to me how he made a deal with his parents if he could save up the money (which he is) he can get the motorcycle. What is your opionan about this?

A: Why are you asking our opinion on that? And what particularly are you asking for our opinion on? His motorcycle choice, or his judgement? If it's not about the bike, it makes me think you're a tad jealous or possibly needing confirmation from strangers before you tell him your thoughts.

Q: Need a crankshaft for a 1998 Honda Passport?
I have looked on the net with not much luck. Looking for a crankshaft for a 1998 Honda Passport, 3.2L engine, 4x4, auto tranny. Can someone please help? Thx in advance.

A: You may or may not know it, but your Passport was manufactured by Isuzu, and it is mechanically identical to a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo – with that said, try this link and do a search as though you owned a Rodeo: http://www.myisuzuparts.com Also – since you are already going to be tearing down the motor; if you think you might be interested in increasing your engine’s displacement while you’re at it… I have been told (by some very well-informed individuals) that the crank and piston rods from an Isuzu 3.5 liter engine will swap right in. However, for more information on that, you should probably talk directly with a REAL Isuzu Guru (instead of relying on my second-hand information) – Some of the very best technical assistance that you could ever hope to find is available here: http://forum.planetisuzoo.com/ Hope this helps!

Q: Does a 1997 honda passport have a transmission dipstick?
My daughter took her 1997 honda passport to have the transmission serviced and they told her they couldn't because it didn't have a dipstick. Does that make any sense?

A: Sadly this is right, I have a 97 rodeo and Run a 10 min oil change Shop, the only way to check fluid levels is to go to the parts dep to get a special fluid check gauge.. You can have a T-Tech done to replace all the trans fluid, I did this on my rodeo which are basically the same thing.... You have on your tranny a drain plug then right by that there is an overflow plug, that is the only way to check the fluid levels... Sorry, but hope this helps, even though I did do the T-tech on my rigg, I would ask the service dept before you have yours done to see what they say?.. When I did mine I also replaced the tranny pan gasket and filter...

Q: How much would it cost to replace Valve Cover Gasket replacement in v6 engine Honda passport 1995?
How much would it cost to replace Valve Cover Gasket replacement in V6 engine honda passport, the oil leaks and the oil is going up to spark plugs both side of valves are leaking and the firestone give me quote for about $800+ i think this is too much, pls give me idea which and where i can bring my car for best price and can be fixed. Thanks

A: The actual cost will entirely depend on you. Do you want to do this at home? Do you want a small mechanic garage to do it? Do you want the dealer to do this for you? You can purchase the parts and manual instructions online at varying web sites. Keep in mind that you may or may not need specialty tools to do it on your own. Can you borrow a torque wrench in order to verify that the bolts are torqued properly?

Q: how do you change the front wheel bearings on a honda passport?
I need to know how to change my front wheel bearings on my 1996 honda passport 4 wheel drive

A: Although the following article says that it is for a 2000 model Isuzu Amigo / Rodeo Sport, the hubs on your 1996 Honda Passport are 100% identical / interchangeable... 30,000 mile maintenance interval Front Bearing Repack (with photos): http://www.planetisuzoo.com/articles.htm?id=56&Isuzu_Front_Bearing_Repack To replace the bearings themselves, you’ll simply follow all of the same steps listed in the article, but also (A) remove the races from the hubs, (B) install a new set of races – which is best accomplished by using a very large socket that is the same diameter as the flat outer ring-edge surface of the race, and hammer them in until you hear the tone of the ringing sound change, which indicates that they have seated – and (C) install the new bearings… NOTE: There are two sets of bearings within each hub; an inner, and an outer. Q: How hard is it to grease the front of my 4x4 Honda Passport???
I've always owned a Jeep 4x4 and had no problem pulling the front hubs apart, regressing them and putting them back together. Is the front of my 95 Honda Passport any more difficult?

A: Not more difficult , try impossible. These are sealed units and when they go bad you replace the entire bearing and or hub assembly. As you see on most Japanese products the label says "No user serviceable parts inside " . You have to wait for it to wear out and break before you take it apart. Sorry , no weekend fun playing with the car here.

Q: Where Can I get and How Much It costs ? My 2002 Honda Passport Passenger side door is damaged!?
My passenger side door for my 2002 Honda Passport (V6) is damaged from accident. Howmuch will it cost me to fix? Or where can I get this door for replacement? How Much??

A: Try a local junk yard....they are all connected via the net....if they don't have one they can find one and get it shipped....Honda is a popular car....used parts are expensive...expect to pay what ever they ask...You may want to take it to the dealer or auto body shop and ask for an aftermarket or used door.....gonna be 1K or more...

Q: How do I repair the rear hatch locking mechanism on my 1997 Honda Passport?
I backed into another car and now my rear hatch on my 97 Passport won't open. The spare wheel can still swing aside, and the interior hatch-open button still works - but the rear hatch window won't pop open and my key can't pop open the rear hatch window or door either. I can't find anywhere where I can unscrew or unbolt the locking mechanism or door handle to examine it. How can I figure out how to access and repair the broken part? I also have looked online at several Honda parts websites and cannot find a replacement locking part anywhere. Help! Thanks!

A: [..insert sound of chirping crickets here..]

Q: What is the "winter" switch for on a 95 Honda Passport?
Just bought a 95 Honda passport for my teen to drive to school. No book with it. We notice a button on the console for "winter". What does this button do? Also, my mechanic says this is really the same thing as a 95 Isuzu Rodeo, is this correct? Anyone have one of these, like it ...hate it or what?

A: The winter switch is the Isuzu version of today's traction control. It should help you take off better from a complete stop in snow or rain. And yes, the Honda Passport is essentially a rebadged Isuzu with slightly different options. Most people who have owned them, loved them. And most couldn't stand the fact that it really wasn't made by Honda.

Q: how do i know if i have a 1995 or a 1995 1/2 honda passport?
I don't know if its a reg. 1995 or if its the half yr model or not. also, we don't know if its the EX or LX version, even the bank didnt know when they gave us the loan to buy it. the vin# just gives us a honda passport, nothing else. anyone out there work or build one ? i phoned the honda people, they couldn't tell me if it was a LX or EX , hell they couldn't tell me what capacity the gasoline tank had! they just took my name and address down for any updates for the truck! also, i know that the rodeo were the same thing, lol, i liked both of them and was happy when my darling hubby chose this type of truck, just didn't know it was a pain in the azz to work with!~

A: The year goes by the 10th digit of the VIN. Before 2000, it was a letter that corresponds to a year. That’s what they put on your reg. There is no such thing as half years. That’s just marketing
