Q: How good is a 1997 honda passport vehicle?
I have found this vehicle and i want to make sure it is a good vehicle. It has 1100000 miles on it. They are asking 2200.00 for it. I just want to make sure it is a good vehicle before I buy it.

A: It was a very good vehicle but you need to make sure that the timing belt, tensioners, guides and water pump has been changed because it will cost about half of what you are paying for the vehicle.

Q: How do you change the front brakes on a 1997 Honda Passport.?
I have changes brake pads in several other vechicles. I just want to know if it's about the same

A: How would I do it? I would take it to my auto mechanic.

Q: I 1997 honda passport, I drove the car last Friday.Today the doen't start I check the batery, starter no start
I check the starter, battery and anything I could think of but it doesn't start.

A: Did you check the battery cables? I have a 1998 Passport and not matter what I do...the cables always manage to come loose just enough for the engine not to fire. If the cables are alright...might be the fuel pump.

Q: I have a 1997 Honda Passport but I can't find where you check the transmission fluid at.?
1997 Honda passport v-6 engine two wheel drive but has winter drive and power drive

A: there is no dipstick on the Passport transmission. the level of the fluid is checked by removing the oil fill plug that is in the center of the case on the right side of the transmission. You need to remove the fill plug and stick your finger into the hole, much like you would check the fluid on a rear-wheel drive differential. you add fluid to the point where it starts to run out of the hole then put the plug back in. you can drain the fluid from the plug on the bottom of the trans. When you get a sample of the fluid on your finger wipe it on a white napkin to check the color. it should be pinkish brown. it should not smell burnt. if its dark brown or smells burnt draing and change the fluid. there is no filter to change. hope that helps

Q: I would like to know why my belt on my 1997 Honda passport keeps squealing when I start it. I have put new one
I have put a new serpentine belt on twice. When it is really cold out and I start in first thing in the morning it really squeals, like for maybe ten minutes. Then it quits. I just bought this and it was supposed to be fixed. The dealer told me that it happened after I bought it. Which it did not, because he had my husband and I take it to their machanic and leave it there for a couple days so it could be fixed. They was supposed to fix an oil leak also.

A: most of the time the reason a belt squeals is because it is to lose. most of the time this is due to an old wore out belt but you replaced it so maybe the tension is to lose might check to se if all the positions where the pulls are mounted are tight and the pulles them selves are tight. and the tension pully may not have enough tension you may have to replace that. but if you just bought it take to them a make sure they fix it no matter what you got to stay on top of them soon or later they will get tired of dodging and just fix it they r just hopin you just quit messin with them and go away dont let them win

Q: 1997 Honda passport v-6, i cant find the spark plugs?

A: if you can find the 2 valve covers's on the top of the engine on the out sides of them you should see three wires that pull off they are under them

Q: how to replace the starter on a 1997 Honda Passport 4WD?

A: That is a tough starter, even for a professional mechanic. It may require tools not in the average toolbox.

Q: Will parts from a 1997 Honda Passport work on a 1999?

A: yes. only difference is some models have 4wd and some have 6 cyl versus a 4 cyl engine. As long as it is a like model or the same engine the parts will interchange. All Passports were virtually identical. the Isuzu parts will also interchange because the Passport was made by Isuzu but badged a Honda.

Q: my 1997 honda passport heater is broken, and when i put in a fuse, it breaks?

A: Most likely the heater motor is worn out and needs replaced. The motor is under the dash on the passenger side. Three screws hold it in. To make sure it's bad, unplug the wire from the motor and try another fuse. If the fuse doesn't "blow" then the motor IS bad.

Q: Is a 1997 Honda Passport reliable?
buyin it on sunday. it has 125k miles and its 4 $3500. its been maintained well. is it reliable? i got mixed reviews

A: Take it from me, I have 6 years at a Honda dealer, it is the most unrelaible car you could probably buy. You would be better off bying a Ford (joke). Passport's are nothing but problems and very costly to repair. They have several problesm that cost a lot to fix. Engines are one thing, headgaskets, axles, oil leaks, brakes, o2 sensors. All are common problems on these and cost a fortune to fix. If you buy this vehicle, start saving cause it WILL cost you down the road

Q: What can I wire my LED lights to in my car?
I have some foot well LED's that I don't know what to wire to. It is four tubes with LED's in them that is connected to a control box, on/off switch which has two wires coming out of it, black and red. I am okay with electrical, but not so much with car electrical. I just need to know where I can connect the positive/negative wires in my car. If it helps, I have a 1997 Isuzu Rodeo (Same as 1995.5-1997 Isuzu Rodeo and Honda Passport) Thanks!

A: The battery.

Q: Automotive Help??
I have a 1997 Honda Passport. I would like to check and service the automatic transmission, but I can not find a dipstick or a filler cap anywhere. Does anyone have any idea how to check and how to service the transmission? Thanks!!

A: Honda passport does NOT have a dip stick to check the transmission fluid level nor does a normal filler cap. The manual indicates that the level should be checked by the dealer. In fact, there are two ports available on a side of the transmission (both automatic and manual). You will have to level the vehicle, go underneath it, unscrew top port, put a finger and feel for the oil. You will have to put a funnel and fill it up if level is low. This is very low tech indeed, but this is the simplest way of dealing with transmissions without dipsticks and filler caps just like yours. It is just like sealed lead-acid batteries DIY is out, and pay $$ to the dealer. After all they also have to make a living.

Q: GPS And Audio?
Can you have mostly any type of in-dash Navigation/ Audio system built in a car? I have a 1997 Honda Passport, and want to get both of those installed, but first off, is it possible?

A: Yeah of course it is you need to talk to a specialized technician about upgrading some wiring in your car but believe me it is possible to have both as one.
