Q: Is this a good deal for a 2000 Honda Prelude?
I do not know much about cars but I am planning to buy a used 2000 honda prelude. It has a clean title, 147k, silver, automatic for $5600. my uncle came with me to look at it and he said it was a good deal but the mileage seemed high to me. it is under KBB but I am still unsure.. this is my first car. please help!
A: Honda's have a high resale value because the will go forever. I had a 1995 Accord EX that I totalled over 2 years ago. In it's wrecked condition and 139k, I got $5500 from my insurance company for it. The car was 10 years old AND demolished.
It may seem like a lot, but if it has been taken care of, it'll be well worth it.
Q: Are there any common problems in a 2000 Honda Prelude?
I found one on craigslist for $5500 all stock 5 speed with 110,000 miles on it. Are there any common problems with this generation of Prelude and is the price good for what the car is?
A: That's a decent price for it and for that much miles. It's a Honda so if it's maintained properly, the engine can last you for many more years without any problems. But at the same time, because it's a Honda, the engine can outlast the frame and body so that'll need fixing and maintaining in a few years.
Personally, I would go for it, what with the economy and gas prices being so crappy. The repair costs are always cheaper and it's more fuel efficient than domestic. Plus, there are some things that're easy enough to fix on your own, without going to the shop.
Q: How do I change my oxygen sensor in my 2000 Honda Prelude ?
Once I find out which oxygen sensor is bad, I want to try and replace it myself because the dealers won't to charge $500 for the part and the manual labor. The part only cost $70 and I've got time. What tools should I buy to change out the sensor? Pictures or a video would be helpful.
A: THE TOOL NEEDED WILL BE A 13/16 SOCKET WITH A CUT DOWN THE SIDE FOR THE WIRES SO THAT YOU DON'T BREAK THEM AND THE FREE PICTURES WILL BE A YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY.

How do I fix this?
A: because the tailight fuse has blown for some reason. it takes the instument lights with it bacause the inst. ligfhts are in the same circuit with the taillights...
Q: What maintenance should I do on my 2000 Honda Prelude at 90,000 miles?
A: At that mileage you are due for a 'major' service that includes changing the oil and filter, changing the transmission fluid, changing the brake fluid and changing your intake air filter and interior cabin filters. The regular safety inspections, including checking and cleaning the brakes etc should also be done during the service. Most Honda dealers charge between $250 and $300 for this service.
On that year car the spark plugs are platinum and are changed every 105,000 miles. the timing belt, water pump, coolant and accessory drive belts should also be changed ato 105,000 miles, so you have time on that. That service will be pretty expensive. Ask your honda dealer for a quote when you have the 90k done so you have time to save for it.
the prelude will last forever if you follow the care and feeding instructions.

it use to be alot faster, but in the past two weeks i feel it loosing power. i took it from LA to fresno and it's gotten worse!

A: i own a repair shop and you may have a bad flasher on it,,this will cause them not to flash at all on any car,if you have checked the fuse for it,and the bulbs are good ,it just about has to be the flasher on it,there common for going out,id check it,and see,i do a lot of this work,and i have seen a lot of them bad before,good luck i hope this help,s.

A: I've driven both extensively (and own an S2000), and between the two, I'd go with the 'Lude.
I love the SI, I love what people do with them... they are awesome little cars, but that said, the Prelude SH is probably the most fun FWD car I've ever driven.
It's decently quick stock, and the H22 is a great engine. It is a porker as far as Hondas are concerned, but it's still lighter than a comparable American or Euro car, and way the hell cooler than anything Toyota's offered since the Supra.
IMHO, aside from the S2k, it's probably one of Honda's best looking designs.
The autostick is problematic but that said, it's the *only* autostick I'd consider in a car. It shifts better than the tiptronic in Porsches, which I've also driven extensively, having worked for Porsche before. The manual tranny is a great, smooth, precise shift. The 2.2 liter engine with VTEC is almost as fun as a B18 or K20 but the torque is better.
If my finances come back up to where they were in the next few months, I'll probably try to pick one up as a daily driver to keep the S2k's miles low.
Q: 2000 Honda Prelude paint color name??

A: open ur drivers door and on the inside there should be a sticker saying ( int . color) that should say something like type F , then look for EXT color and get the series of letters and numbers on it and either take it to a paint store or look it up online
Q: Help, I am looking at the 2000-01 Honda Prelude but my cousin says the auto tranny is no good, any advice?

A: dont be that guy who gets a auto prelude. anywho its not that good because they all have tip tronic. and holda when out on a limb to do it and most of the lazy people who hate to shift use it to much. so theres alot of wear and tear on it

2 of my cylinders are screwed and I'm hoping to just do an engine swap. I'm looking for places to find an engine as I've tried most of the places I can think of. I did find a potential engine, but it's from a 2000....I just want to be sure that the computer and other components will jive with my 1999 model

A: From 98-01 the Prelude is exactly the same. Some differ in power plants and trim. But the onboard diagnostics is exactly the same. You will be better off rebuilding the motor you have currently but if you have the money to throw around go for it.

Q: 2000 Honda Prelude ABS Light comes and goes! Advice, opinions?
Serious mature answers please! Recently my girlfriend was driving my car and she mentioned that the ABS light came on while we were headed to a movie! Well I noticed that it has been coming and going! Does anyone think that maybe the brakes are getting worn too far and this is just an idicator? I would like to get a few opinions before going to honda and spending the money.Thanks

Q: lowbeam headlight replacement/installation for a 2000 honda prelude?
A: the bulbs have twist on connectors on the back of the light inside the engine compartment. undo the connector and take the old bulb out install the new bulbBUT don't touch it with your fingers wrap it in clean tissue or an old piece of cloth that dosen't have oil or grease on it , if you get anything on the bulb it will shorten the life of it.

A: I would advise you to do your homework. I have come from a long line of import enthusiasts. And there are a whole lot of obstacles that you face. You can buy the manual from any auto parts store and do some research online. Good luck.
